Welcome to the home page of Dave Caldwell, at long last retired and currently living in indisputably the most pleasant part of the good old USA.

Having grown up in Maine and Massachusetts, I have seen my fill of crappy winter weather, although I will admit, the other three seasons are not too bad in New England. Spring is nice, summer is generally pleasant and fall is beautiful.

There is no question, however, that southern California is definitely the most temperate area in the continental USA. Escondido is 35 miles north of San Diego and 18 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Generally, the local temperature ranges about 10 degrees higher than SD in the day, and slightly cooler than the coast at night.

Living here allows me to indulge in my favorite pastime, Motorcycle riding, the full 12 months of the year. The ocean, desert, hills and mountains are but 30 to 90 minutes away. The only detraction is the higher cost of living one has to put up with to enjoy such a leisure environment.
